In Path of Exile 2 lately, and while my original plan was to update you on Warrior builds, that’s still on hold—POB hasn’t been updated yet. So instead of just focusing on one class, I want to cover something everyone cares about at league start: making Path of Exile 2 currency.
Divine Orbs and Exalted Orbs fuel early progression, and understanding how passive points, tablets, towers, map mods, and Atlas passives work together is key to blasting your way through tier 15 and 16 maps. Let’s break it all down.
Unlocking Passive Points
If you haven’t played since early Dawn of the Hunt, you’ll be glad to hear that unlocking passive points is much less painful now. Here’s how it works:
- Corruption Nexus Areas: Found on maps marked with red coral and swirling mist. Each one cleared grants a tome worth 5 passive points. Completing six gives you 30 of the 40 possible points.
- Unique Maps: The remaining 10 points come from completing five different unique maps. These are marked by small brown triangles on your Atlas and tied to specific biomes. For example, Silent Cave always spawns in deserts, while Fractured Lake is tied to water biomes.
Do all of these and you’ll have the full 40 Atlas passive points to unlock your tree.
Tablets: The Core of Currency Farming
Tablets are one of the most consistent ways to juice maps for profit. Here’s the priority list for prefix mods:
- Quantity of items found – absolutely the most valuable.
- Rare monsters & item rarity – more rares = more loot.
- Pack size / magic monsters – decent, but not top tier.
- Gold, XP, rare chests – not worth focusing on.
Suffixes matter more when stacking mechanics like Breach or Delirium, but they’ll never outweigh a strong prefix.
Towers: Multiplying Your Rewards
Towers are simple but powerful once you learn how they scale:
- 1 mod map = 1 tablet slot
- 3 mods = 2 slots
- 6 mods = 3 slots
The tier of the map also affects tower scaling. A tier 15 gives 99% increased tablet effect, while tier 16 pushes it to 100%—literally doubling the tablet’s outcome.
Your long-term goal should be tier 16 six-mod maps, but three-mod tier 15 maps are a great stepping stone.
Map Mods: The New Risk–Reward System
Patch 0.3 redesigned map mods. Instead of prefixes being “good” and suffixes “bad,” every mod now has both upsides and downsides, just like PoE1.
Notable points:
- All mods grant waystone drop chance (useful for rerolling maps).
- Rare monsters & rarity are the best rewards.
- Rarity now upgrades currency drops—a PoE2 exclusive. What might have been an Exalted can upgrade into a Divine Orb.
This makes stacking rarity and rares a top strategy for early currency farming.
Early Atlas Passive Tree Strategy
When you first unlock your tree:
- Constant Crossroads – for smoother progression.
- Fortunate Path – free alchs help when you’re broke.
- Rising Danger → Twin Threats – more rare monsters.
- Treasure Coves – a strong source of currency from rare chests.
- Precursor Influence – maximize tablet drops.
Later on, expand into monster pack size, rarity, and eventually Unstable Energies for high-level juicing.
Mechanic Trees Breakdown
Each of the four major mechanic trees has pros and cons:
- Breach: Best raw currency mechanic. Tons of rares, splinters, and consistent profit.
- Expedition: Slow but rewarding, especially with AoE builds. Lower branch is high-risk, high-reward; upper branch is safer.
- Delirium: Excellent once you’re stable in tier 15/16 maps. Rarity scaling makes this a Divine-printing mechanic. Early on, avoid overloading maps with delirium as it can brick progression.
- Ritual: Surprisingly rewarding this patch. More altars = more tribute = more chances at high-value rewards like divines, gems, and uniques.
Essences, Shrines, Abyss, and Rogue Exiles exist too, but they’re less efficient for currency farming compared to the “big four.”
Final Thoughts
This patch has made farming feel smoother, more rewarding, and more flexible. Whether you’re blasting through corrupted nexus areas for passive points, min-maxing tablet setups, or specializing in Breach or Ritual farming, there are plenty of ways to stack Divine Orbs this league.
For now, I’ll be running a mix of Ritual and Delirium while still experimenting with Essences for crafting. If you’re just getting started, stick to rarity + rare monster stacking, and work your way toward full tier 16 six-mod maps.
Good luck farming, and may your Exalts upgrade into Divines! We hope you found this article useful. For more Path of Exile tips and secure POE2 Currency services, visit MMOexp.
